Internship Opportunities

Our students have the opportunity to come together with our stakeholders in the curriculum by having two compulsory summer internships (30 days each), in the 2nd and 3rd year in our curriculum, and have the opportunity to establish warm relations with the sector while they are still students.

Technological Infrastructure of The Department

The courses of our department will be given in the 5 existing computer laboratories and plus 1 laboratory containing 40 new computers.

For the managerial deparments to benefit from the rapid development of the technological equipment in the most effective way, the software products operated on these hardware should be adapted to these developments as soon as possible. For this purpose, in order to develop new software products, there is a need for software developers who have basic business knowledge and who can follow innovations in computer science and who have extensive and high level knowledge in this field.

In addition, when Turkey to the specific conditions in the market and commonly used commercial software are taken into account, it is clear that theres is  need for program developers which can be adapted to the expectations of the sector. Fillling this gap by staff members who are not sufficiently aware of the subject, know only computer and system technology,lack of experience in practical programming and sufficient interdisciplinary academic background, wastes time and resources.

The academic program of this department reflects the characteristics of traditional computer engineering programs, but it also supports with the basic module of business administration. Academic curriculum of  our department aims to educate students with intense practical knowledge, and who can adapt  adapt to industry or business needs based on the existing software used by the company and the sector, and can meet the world needs particularly the European Union and Turkey, can develop high quality programs, system design, development systems, communication channels and be able to solve problems encountered in terms of satisfaction final consumer.

The Department of Information Systems and Technologies, with its focus on informatics and computer science, and its interdisciplinary academic program, aims to train knowledgeable and versatile IT professionals who can successfully work in today's complex business environments. The Department collaborates and maintains close contact with the leading firms in the sector, such as Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle and SAP, and applies the necessary updates to its educational program for fulfilling their certification requirements. As such, the Department offers its students (together with a Bachelor's Degree diploma, and options for Double Major degrees or an additional Minor) valuable certificates from these global IT and computing firms.

Upon completing their education, the graduates of our Department can work in job positions related to the fields of computing and information technologies (e.g., computer programmer and software developer, system designer and administrator, network administrator, database systems specialist, web developer, IT security specialist, etc.). Additionally, thanks to our Department's interdisciplinary academic program which includes courses on business administration, accounting, corporate management and organization, they can also work in a multitude of job positions (e.g., Manager, Project Manager, Coordinator, Specialist, Consultant, etc.) in diverse sectors ranging from telecommunications, e-commerce and e-business to banking, insurance and accounting. Most of these job positions require the capability of fulfilling tasks such as the design, application and administration of platforms for electronic commerce, enterprise systems, transaction processing systems, customer relationship management systems, supply chain management systems, decision support systems, knowledge management systems, expert systems, data mining, virtual reality technologies, cloud systems and mobile communication systems.

As a result of the rapid development and widespread availability of information technologies, internet use is continuously increasing. Distributed computing and data storage techniques, network, data and application security are gaining importance. The main objective of the Information Security Technology Program is to teach students how to provide the security of data, databases and information systems. Students who will follow this program will learn software development, data mining, internet and network expertise, cybersecurity, cryptology, penetration tests and artificial intelligence applications. As such, they will be able to improve security levels against information security threats, find security vulnerabilities, and take the necessary hardware and software measures to provide the security of information in physical systems. Students attending the 4-year program must successfully complete the courses with at least 130 credits and 240 ECTS, 25% of the courses are electives. The program must be completed with a minimum grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 over 4.00. Evaluations are based on activities such as mid-term, final and make-up exams, projects and internships. Eligibility for taking the final exam and make-up exam requires a course attendance rate of at least 80%. Minor and Double Major programs will soon be initiated with the other Departments of Yeditepe University. The Erasmus/Exchange agreements of the Departments of Information Security Technology, Information Systems and Technologies and Management Information Systems will be consolidated.

Career Opportunities

Our alumni can work in job positions such as "information security specialist", "system security specialist", "cybersecurity specialist", "network expert/manager", "system support specialist", or "software developer", among numerous others. Turkey, which ranks 5th among the cyber-attack targets on a global scale, needs a large number of computer programmers and IT experts with a specialization in cybersecurity. Considering that the cyber-attack threats will increase substantially in the coming years, the market's demand for experts in this field is also expected to increase. The Presidency of the Republic of Turkey published a 21-item Information and Communication Security circular in the Official Gazette dated July 6, 2019 and numbered 30823.

Entry Requirements

A Secondary Education Diploma is needed in order to apply to the Information Security Technology Undergraduate Program. The candidate should also be successful in the centrally administered exam held by ÖSYM. Also, there are intra-institutional transfer, inter-institutional transfer, and vertical transfer opportunities on the condition of succeeding in the DGS exam or fulfilling other requirements. The duration of the formal education undergraduate program is 4 years. The language of instruction is English. Students who are admitted to the Department of Information Security Technology must take an English Proficiency Exam, which will determine whether they can directly start the program or should first attend the English Preparatory School to gain proficiency.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the program, the student has to complete 130 credits and 240 ECTS during 8 semesters by passing the compulsory, departmental elective and free elective courses; as well as completing an Internship period of 40 work-days, and a Graduation Project in the final semester, with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 over 4.00.

Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi Bölümü Hakkında

Bilişim teknolojilerinin hızlı gelişimi ve yaygınlaşması sayesinde artan internet kullanımı; bu olanaklardan yararlanan dağıtılmış hesaplama ve veri saklama teknikleri, bunun da gereksinim gösterdiği ağ, veri ve uygulama güvenliği artan bir önem kazanmıştır. Güvenliğin kamu, özel sektör ve kişisel ölçekte hayatın olağan ve vazgeçilmez bir parçası haline gelmesiyle birlikte siber uzay olarak adlandırılan yeni bir küresel boyut oluşturmuştur. Yaşanan bu teknolojik devrim, toplumların dönüşüm geçirmesine ve bilgisayar ağları çevresinde şekillenen yeni ilişkilerin oluşturduğu “ağ toplumu”nun ortaya çıkmasını sağlamıştır. İnternetin sosyal ve ekonomik yaşantının ayrılmaz bir parçası haline gelmesi, sanallaştırma ve bulut bilişim gibi yenilikler iş dünyasının da bilgi ve iletişim alanında bu büyük değişime kayıtsız kalamamasına, kurum ve hizmetlerini siber evrene taşımalarına yol açmıştır.

İnternet kullanıcı sayısın arttıkça genel tanımlama ile “Bilgi Güvenliği” olarak adlandırılan problemler ortaya çıkması ülkelerin kendi bilgi sistemlerini ve kritik altyapılarını bilgi teknolojileri altyapısıyla oluşturmalarına neden olmuştur. Ülkeler siber alana bağımlı olan sistemlerini bilgi güvenliği tehditlerine karşı korumak için standartlar, politikalar ve stratejiler geliştirilmiş ve uygulanmıştır.

Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi Bölümü, siber teknoloji bağlamında siber güvenlik yönetimi alanına özgün ihtiyaçların karşılanması için bilgi güvenliği tehditlerine karşı etkin bir biçimde açıklık tarama ve testlerini uygulayabilecek, bilgi güvenliği açısından seviye-iyileştirme analizleri yapabilecek, ağ, bilgi ve uygulama  güvenliği konusunda deneyimli, güvenlik konusundaki tehditleri algılayarak bertaraf edecek bir farkındalık programı düzenleyebilecek mezunlar yetiştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Bu amaçla olası bilgi güvenliği tehditlerine karşı güvenlik seviyesinin iyileştirilmesi ve sistemlerin güvenlik açıklarının belirlenmesi paralelinde donanım ve yazılım boyutunda bir sistematik dahilinde önlemlerin alınması, fiziksel ve bilgi güvenliğinin sağlanması; tüm bu unsurların siber güvenlik yönetimi üst bağlamında gösterilmesi bölümün başlıca amaçlarındandır.

C, C++, C#, Java, Python gibi programlama dilleri, yapay zeka, web tasarımı, bilgisayar ağları, Oracle uyumlu veri tabanı dersleri, bilişim sistemleri güvenliği, kriptoloji, sızma testleri, ağ güvenliği veritabanı güvenliği, sanallaştırma ve bulut sistemleri ve bilişim suçları ve mevzuatı üzerine dersler programımızda mevcuttur.

Bölümümüz; Bilişim Sistemleri ve Teknolojileri, Yönetim Bilişim Sistemleri; Elektronik Ticaret ve Teknoloji Yönetimi  ve Bilgisayar Mühendisliği bölümleri ile ortak dersler, laboratuvar olanakları ve akademisyen işbirlikleri içerisindedir.

Mezunlarımız bilgi işlem merkezleri ve yazılım firmaları başta olmak üzere, elektronik bilginin olduğu her alanda “bilgi güvenlik uzmanı”,”sistem güvenliği uzmanı”, “siber güvenlik uzmanı”, “ağ uzmanı ve yöneticisi”, “sistem destek uzmanı” ve “yazılımcı”pozisyonlarında çalışabileceklerdir.

Siber saldırı hedefleri arasında küresel boyutta 5. sırada olan ülkemizin, şu anda siber güvenlik konusuna hakim ve teorik bilgilere sahip en az 20000 uzmana ihtiyaç vardır. Sözkonusu saldırı tehditlerinin önümüzdeki yıllarda da büyük ölçüde artacağı düşünüldüğünde, piyasanın mezunlara olan talebinin artacağı tahmin edilmektedir.

Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi Bölümü Nedir?

İnternet kullanımı teknolojinin gelişimi ile oldukça artmaktadır. Bu artış sürecinde ise veri güvenliği de önemli hale gelmektedir. Güvenliğin sadece bireysel değil kamu ve özel şirketlerin de vazgeçilmez başlıklarından biri haline gelmesi ile bilgi güvenliğini sağlamak amacıyla programlar geliştirilmektedir. Sadece sosyal değil ekonomik olarak da büyüyen internet ortamında bilgi güvenliğini korumak için ise çok yönlü profesyonellere ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.

Bilişim Sistemleri ve Teknolojileri bölümü olarak siber güvenlik yönetiminde ihtiyaçların karşılanacağı bireyler yetiştirmekteyiz. Bilgi güvenliği tehditlerine karşı etkin bir biçimde açıklık tarama ve testlerini uygulayabilecek öğrenciler, aldıkları eğitimler ile seviye-iyileştirme analizleri yapabilecek, bilgi güvenliği konusunda deneyimli ve tehditler karşısında farkındalığı yüksek bireyler olacaktır.

Bu amaçlar doğrultusunda verilen eğitimin süresi 4 yıldır ve eğitim dili İngilizcedir. Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi bölümünde okumak ve bu alanda iş sahibi olmak isteyen aday öğrencilerin liselerin “sayısal” bölümlerinden mezun olması gerekmektedir.

Okulu başarı ile tamamlayan öğrenciler ise bilgi işlem merkezleri ve yazılım şirketleri başta olmak üzere sektörün birçok kuruluşunda iş bulabilmektedir. Zorunlu staj programı ise bazı öğrencilerin staj yaparken bile iş teklifi almasına ve aynı firmada çalışma hayatına devam etmesine olanak sağlamaktadır.

Yeditepe Üniversitesi Ticari Bilimler Fakültesi Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi bölümü ayrıca Türkiye’de açılan bu alandaki ilk ve tek lisans bölümü olma özelliği özelliğini de taşımaktadır.

Yeditepe Üniversitesi'nde Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi Okumak

Bölüm olarak bilgi güvenliği tehditlerine karşı güvenlik seviyelerinin iyileştirilmesi ve güvenlik açıklarının belirlenmesi konusunda eğitim vermekteyiz. Alanında uzman kadromuz ile verilen bu eğitimde bilgi ve uygulama güvenliği konusunda profesyonel mezunlar yetiştirmeyi amaçlamaktayız.

Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi, yazılımdan bağımsız olarak tek başına düşünülecek bir alan değildir. Bu yüzden de yazılım dersleri, temel alanlardan bir tanesi olarak yer almaktadır.

C, C++, C#, Java, Python gibi programlama dilleri, web tasarımı, bilgisayar ağları, Oracle uyumlu veri tabanı dersleri, bilişim sistemleri güvenliği, benzetişim, kriptoloji, sızma testleri, ağ güvenliği veri tabanı güvenliği, sanallaştırma ve bulut sistemleri ve bilişim suçları ve mevzuatı üzerine dersler verilirken öğrencilerin seçmeli dersler arasından da ilgi alanına göre tercih yapma hakkı bulunmaktadır. Öğrenciler yönetim bilişim sistemleri dersi alabileceği gibi isterlerse görsel programlama derslerinden birini de tercih edebilmektedir. Ayrıca mobil programlama, yapay zekâ ve oyun tasarımı diğer seçmeli dersler arasında yer almaktadır.

Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi bölümü okuyacak öğrencileri öncelikle hazırlık sınıfı beklemektedir. Hazırlık sınıfı, öğrencileri 4 yıllık süreçte eğitim dili olan İngilizceye de hazırlamaktadır. Ulusal ve uluslararası alanda ortak bir meslek olan Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisinde öğrencilerin İngilizce eğitim alması onların her alanda araştırma yapabilme ve bu araştırmalar kapsamında çözüm üretebilmesini sağlamaktadır.

Yeditepe Üniversitesi olarak öğrencilerin sadece derslerde değil sosyal anlamda da etkin bireyler olmasını önemsemekteyiz. 52 öğrenci kulübü ile öğrenciler sosyalleşerek çevre edinirken aynı zamanda ortak paylaşımlar ile iş birlikçi yönlerini de güçlendirmektedir. Yeditepe Üniversitesi Bilişim Kulübü ise özellikle bu bölümde okuyan öğrencilerin yoğun ilgi gösterdiği kulüplerden biridir.

Üniversitemizde aynı zamanda tüm öğrencilerin kullanımına açık 20’si bilgisayarlı kırkın üzerine laboratuvar bulunmaktadır. Öğrendiklerini bu birimlerde geliştirebilen öğrenciler Bilgi Merkezi koleksiyonunda bulunan binlerce kitap, elektronik dergi, veri tabanı üyelikleri ile de istedikleri kaynaklara kolayca ulaşabilmektedir.

Bölümümüz ayrıca Bilişim Sistemleri ve Teknolojileri, Yönetim Bilişim Sistemleri; Elektronik Ticaret ve Teknoloji Yönetimi ve Bilgisayar Mühendisliği bölümleri ile ortak dersler, laboratuvar olanakları ve akademisyen iş birlikleri içerisindedir.

Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi Mezunu Ne İş Yapar? Nerelerde Çalışır?

Ülkemiz siber saldırı hedefleri arasında 5. sıradadır. Bu da küresel boyutta siber güvenlik konusuna hâkim ve teorik bilgileri hayata geçirebilecek 2 binden fazla uzman ihtiyacı doğurmaktadır. Siber saldırıların önümüzdeki yıllarda artacağı düşünülürse ihtiyaç olan sayı daha da artacaktır.

Açığın gittikçe arttığı Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi alanında bu bölümden mezun olan öğrenciler birçok sektörde iş sahibi olabilmektedir. Piyasada donanımlı mezunların olması ile şirketlerin; bilgi güvenlik uzmanı, sistem güvenliği uzmanı, siber güvenlik uzmanı, ağ uzmanı ve yöneticisi, sistem destek uzmanı ve yazılımcı pozisyonları açılmaktadır.

Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi bölümünden mezun olanlar bu statülerde bilgi işlem merkezlerinde ve yazılım firmaları başta olmak üzere elektronik bilginin var olduğu her özel/kamu kurum ve kuruluşlarda iş bulabilme imkânına sahiptir.

Devlet üniversiteleri, Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri, finansal kurum ve kuruluşlar, özel okullar, sosyal güvenlik kurumları, belediyeler, bankalar, teknik servisler, e-posta hizmeti veren kurumlar, sağlık hizmeti veren kuruluşlar, yazılım donanım ve tasarımı yapan şirketler, çeşitli mağazaların bilgi-işlem birimleri Bilgi Güvenliği Teknolojisi bölümü mezunlarının çalışabileceği diğer sektörlerdir.

Çalıştıkları firmalarda mezunların başlıca görevleri arasında bilgi sistemlerinin güvenlik açıklarını belirlemek ve bilgilerin güvenli şekilde muhafaza edilmesini sağlamak bulunmaktadır. Department of Management Information Systems

Management Information Systems is a department that brings information management, technology and people together. Developments in technology and informatics pave the way for new understandings in management to emerge. In this regard, managers need accurate information in order to make and apply the best decisions. The Department of Management Information Systems aims to educate people who are able to categorize and interpret information, who follow the breakthroughs in management and informatics and who are professional and highly qualified.

In order to enroll into the Department of Management Information Systems, the student should be a graduate of the equally-weighted (EA) educational program of high-schools. After a comprehensive education in the field of Management Information Systems, it is possible to work as a Management Information Systems Specialist in a wide array of industries. Graduates can find jobs in a variety of departments and positions, such as becoming a network administrator, software developer, web design expert, or in different areas of information technology. Also, thanks to their education, our departments are able to find administrative positions such as project management and project coordinatorship. Some of the fields in which a graduate of Management Information Systems can find a job include mobile systems, cloud systems, e-trading systems, decision support systems, virtual reality technology areas, banking, accounting and insurance.

Studying Management Information Systems at Yeditepe University

The Department of Management Information Systems aims to educate professionals who are able to realize the planning and management of all systems for the processes of producing, sharing and accessing information. Within the department, where an interdisciplinary education is provided, students are educated in the fields of informatics, technology and management.

In accordance with these goals, new developments in technology in order to create new information, which also names the era that we live in, are constantly monitored and students are educated in light of them. The students of the Management Information Systems Department are turned into specialists who can design and develop information systems, interpret the technological developments by following them closely, provide hardware and software support to their companies, as well as being equipped with excellent management capabilities.

Yeditepe University provides a handful of opportunities and sources for the students of the Management Information Systems Department. Courses designed in collaboration with leading companies such as Oracle, SAP, Cisco and Microsoft, as well as the certification programs of these companies help students both during their education in terms of knowledge and experience, and during their job search after their graduation. With their knowledge in information technologies and business administration, graduates can work in a wide variety of industries including banking, insurance, accounting and e-trading in administrative and consulting positions.

Management Information Systems Department graduates are able to find jobs in many fields within the information industry. Thanks to the education and the various qualities received, they are able to apply for and work in various positions. Graduates can work in industries such as software, telecommunications, banking, insurance, e-trading and accounting; and in job positions such as system expert, web design expert, system administrator, software developer, database administrator, project manager, application developer, security expert, business analyst, business intelligence expert, coordinator and consultant. In this regard, graduates of the Management Information Systems Department are employed by large corporations, institutions and public offices.

The qualities of Management Information Systems Department graduates include capabilities such as following the information technologies closely, creating strategies by interpreting them, accurately managing and using the time and sources of companies, predicting the potential problems and providing solutions, enabling the communication between the managers and IT staff of the company and having visionary ideas in the field of business administration. In accordance with these qualities and knowledge, Management Information System Experts are responsible for developing the correct strategies in the process of making a profit, as well as making the right decisions.

Today, we can observe that information technologies are developing rapidly. Specifically in the United States, the job openings are constantly increasing for this field. The projection of the U.S. Labor Department for information technologies employment was 1.5 million people in the period between 2006-2016. Various corporations in the information technologies industry constantly increase their search for web designers, project managers, business analysts, software consultants and application developers.

56% of Yeditepe University Management Information Systems Department's 2015-2016 graduates have started working in various positions and industries immediately after they finished their studies.
