E-commerce stimulating start-up projects prepared by students of Yeditepe University came before a jury of Turkey's leading e-commerce experts and businessmen.

At the end of a 14-week intensive training, Yeditepe University Management Information Systems (MIS) Graduate Program, E-Commerce Expertise "Entrepreneurship" course students presented their projects at a competition called "I'm Looking for a sponsor for my E-Commerce Project" held at the University's 26 Ağustos Campus in Ataşehir, Istanbul. 

"A Pioneering Faculty"

The competition started with the speeches of Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Aslı Alıcı, Electronic Trade and Technology Management Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altan Kar, and mentor of the competition Serdar Çınar. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Aslı Alıcı said: "The Faculty of Commerce is a pioneering faculty. In 2004 we brought the concept of 'applied business' to Turkey. Today we go one step further with the Electronic Trade and Technology Management program." Stating that e-commerce is a rapidly growing sector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altan Kar asserted that "it will have a very important contribution to the economic volume of Turkey and in the future Turkey will be in a very important place among the European countries. Our department was established to meet a significant employment deficit in the field of e-commerce. This organization should be perceived as a kind of social responsibility project. Our students have been preparing at an intense pace for 14 weeks. I wish them success."

14 Projects Were Evaluated

Members of the jury, Brightwell Holdings Chairman of the Board Futurist-Entrepreneur Alphan Manas, Migros E-Commerce Director Rıza Gürler, PayU Marketing Manager Gaye Or, Google Industry Manager (Retail) İhsan Solak, Webrazzi Founder CEO Arda Kutsal, Iprospect Marketing Performance Director Mesut Şefizade, Kolektif House Initiative Leader and Founder of Hackquarters Kaan Akın and Galata Business Angels Managing Director Ata Uzunhasan evaluated projects presented by 14 students.

At the end of the contest, Yağız Poyraz won the first prize with the project named "TemelAnaliz.net"Hakan Uzunkaya won the second prize with the project named "TestMyApp" and Gizem Hepşen won the third prize with the project named "Vehicle Washing Valet Service".

Awards:

All establishment fees of the competition winner's company will be paid by Lorem IpsumaSiliconVadisi.co will give 1000 TL to support the winner of the second prize. One of the competition sponsors, PayU will offer all winners the opportunity to benefit from "StartupU", a special package to the entrepreneurs by PayU. The winners will also receive mentorship support for marketing, e-commerce and product management issues offered by PayU's experienced team. Kolektif House will be giving a month-long "traveler membership" to the three winners at its center in Levent, Istanbul.
