As a result of the rapid development and widespread use of information technologies, internet use has increased. Distributed computing and data storage techniques, network, data and application security required by this, have gained increasing importance. The main objective of the Information Security Technology Program is to provide security rather than easy access to data. Students who will follow this program will learn software development, data mining, internet and network expertise, cyber security, cryptology, penetration tests and artificial intelligence applications. As such, they will be able to improve security levels against information security threats, find security vulnerabilities, and take the necessary hardware and software measures to provide the security of information in physical systems. Students attending the 4-year program must successfully complete courses with at least 130 credits and 240 ECTS, 25% of the courses are electives. The program must be completed with a minimum grade point average of 2.00 / 4.00. Evaluations are based on activities such as mid-term, final and make-up exams, projects, and internships. Eligibility for taking the final exam and make-up exam requires attending at least 80% of the courses. Minor and double major opportunities are planned.
Career Opportunities
Our alumni can work as "information security specialist", "system security specialist", "cyber security specialist", "network expert and manager", "system support specialist" and "information security specialist". They will also be able to work in "software developer" positions. Turkey, which ranks 5th among the cyber-attack targets on a global scale, needs a large number of experts who have knowledge of cyber security and basic theoretical knowledge. Considering that the attack threats in question will increase substantially in the coming years, the market's demand for graduates is expected to increase. The Presidency of the Republic of Turkey published a 21-item Information and Communication Security circular in the Official Gazette dated July 6, 2019 and numbered 30823.
